Premium Stuff

In the Simpsons Tapped Out there are a number of premium items that can only be purchased through using donuts. These premium items are found in the Premium Stuff store where all the items using donuts are listed there. If you don’t know what donuts are then check out the Donuts section to learn more about purchasing donuts.

These premium items can give you a huge advantage over the game and other players. You can obtain special items and more income taxes that are not restricted by level or quest. Most of these premium items are available to players at any level, even at level 1. You can purchase multiple buildings that will also grant you exclusive characters that no other players could get through the normal game play. One of which is Hans Moleman, a character that looks similar to Grandpa Simpson or Squeaky Voice teen, a teenager that walks the streets. Regardless of what you buy each character, decoration, or building will play a role in increasing your earnings.

Alternatively, you can use premium stuff to generate special items such as the Lime Tree or even donuts from the mystery box from Mr. Burns.

So with all of the above comments, what is the general consensus on the best premium item to purchase? I bought a Buddha today and got Finks Lab but would like to purchase an actual item. Let me know your thoughts.

Hello everyone! It’s very interesting! 🙂 my level game is on 22. I saved the money over the 500,000 dollars, say its the least. I have trouble with donuts issue but when I use my judgement during the game, decided or not buy donuts. Again, I am annoyed how they decided to put donuts prices is really ridiculous!!!! 🙂 sometime, I followed to step by step when it’s supposed to be completed but I’m stuck due for example, low Santa coins completed it. It’s really set back. I have over estinimate 25 people characters. I feel I did it great jobs. Some of it, I’m struggle with it. Sigh!!!

i have a very annoying bug in my premium items, and really hope you can help me with that.
Some of the items have the "increase all xp and money jobs" increase.
EA Confirmed that the calculation for the Premium Items is Bugged and doesnt work.
Please update us on where EA stands with regards to fixing this issue. It has been over a month since the original post informed you of this issue and there has been no visible sign of progress while the developers continue to release premium items that do not work.

I double checked this today and, though you have several good examples above, I will add my results to the thread as they contain several of the more recent (and expensive) items.

Itchy Balloon: +2% XP and $. Cost: 40 donuts.
Snowball Balloon: +0.5% XP and $. Cost: 20 donuts.
    Piece-of-Crap Car: +0.75% XP and $. Cost 30 donuts.
Tree Swing: +0.5 % XP and $. Cost 20 donuts.
Burning Bush: +0.5% XP and $. Cost 20 donuts. (I have 3 of these for +1.5% and 60 donuts)
Orange Tree: +0.5% XP and $. Cost 15 donuts. (I have 4 of these for +2% and 60 donuts)
Apple Tree: +0.5% XP and $. Cost 15 donuts. (I have 4 of theses for +2% and 60 donuts)
Bench (with blue jacket): +0.25% XP and $. Cost 6 donuts.
Picket Fence (white): +.05% XP and $. Cost 1 donut. (I have 8 of these for +0.4% and 8 donuts)
Springfield Sign: +4.5% XP and $. Cost 170 donuts.
Ray Gun: +3.75% XP and $. Cost 100 donuts.

My Coform-o-Meter bonus is currently at 4.5%.

So my total bonus to job XP and $ should be 22.65%.

Using the same math formulas as in the above posts, I tested a 4 hour job and a one hour job at random.

Bart: Shop at the Kwik-E-Mart. Base reward: $70 and 17 XP. Multiplied by 1.2265 I should have received $86 and 21 XP. I actually received $74 and 18 XP which represents the 4.5% Conformity bonus with nothing extra added.

Lisa: Play the Sax. Base reward: $175, 45 XP. Multiplied by 1.2265 I should have received $215 and 56 XP. I actually received $183 and 48 XP.

Fixing this issue needs to be one of EA's top priorities for three reasons:

    1. As pointed out by previous posts, the developers continue to add new premium items to the game with no regard to the fact that these items do not do what they are advertised to do.

    2. New levels and new buildings require more and more XP and in-game dollars. When the new Post Office costs over $200,000, players who have paid for premium items to help earn that money need to benefit from their purchases.

    3. Most importantly, these premium items all cost Real World dollars. While the actual cost of a donut depends on the bulk number purchased, using the middle-of-the road amount (Truckload of 300 Donuts for $20 USD), each donut costs 7 cents. I'm somewhat embarrased as this is the first time I've actually added up how much I've spent for premium items. The items listed above cost me a total of $40.18 and they quite simply do not do what they are advertised to do.

In addition to fixing this issue, EA needs to make some kind of in-game restitution to the players who have spent real dollars on premium items that are not helping them advance in the game. I realize it is impossible to know how much each player has spent, but some effort to make ammends is called for.

If we can not get a satisfactory result in the near future, I will be forced to take this issue up with theITunes Store.

    Thank you.

i realize this is a bit late but im hoping someone can help me out, a few months ago during the house of horror update just before it ended i put the mayan calendar the mausoleum, cemetery, pet cemetery and kangs crashed ufo in storage because i needed more room to build new buildings and i was sick of killing a bunch of zombies everyday, but once the new update came it took away all my house of horror items that were in my storage including the characters that came with it, if anyone can help me by telling me how to get it back or how to contact ea because two of the items i spent actual money (mausoleum and kangs crashed ufo) to get them and i was never even refunded for the items they took

Phil just made an error, since the teen and the moleman only have 50% extra, not 100% and far away from 150% extra, with 150% extra it would be really nice 😉

Sure at the beginning, the teen for 30 Donuts is the better buy, as you won´t get enough items for Donuts which give an overall bonus that raises your gains as much as the jobs from the teen. But with every Building and/or person the percentage is lowered and so you quickly come to the point where a few percent on everything is more than 50% on his jobs.

But than you have the guy standing around and you can´t exchange it, so the bonus on everything is better and better the more people and buildings you get, while the reward from the teen gets less important with every building or/and person.

Another thing you shouldn´t forget, is that the teen can be won with the mystery box or the Buddah. Premium items which cost many Donuts, have a lower chance to be won and cause the teen is cheap, it is likely you win him very early in the game and don´t need to spend 30 Donuts for him. Additional a lot of premium items can only be won/bought once, so after getting a few, chances are higher you get out a pricey one.
As you get a mystery box for free when playing every day, I spend my Donuts on Buddahs.

So I would say the Buddah is the best item you can buy, as you get a premium item guarantee and you can win all premium items, not only the cheaper ones, like it is with the mystery box.
The mystery box just wastes 6 Donuts and gives a $-Item, one you can also buy for a few hundred Dollars. Except you are someone who always has a great amount of luck.

After I got the 60 free Donuts, I bought 4 mystery boxes, and got a newspaper box, a bench, 3 hedges and a tree out of them, all just worth a few hundred Dollars.
Directly afterwards I spend my rest Donuts for 5 Buddahs (also saved Donuts before the free 60) and got 30xDonuts, a Burning Bush, 2 apple trees and a Bench (the one that costs 6 Donuts, not the one for 270$).
For the 30 Donuts I bought another 2 Buddahs with the teen and another Bench (worth 6 Donuts)

24 Donuts for 4 mystery boxes wasted, no real reward.
75 Donuts for 5 Buddahs and got 6 premium items worth 92 Donuts. So one Unique Premium item (the teen) and 5 items with a total bonus of 2%.
I don´t see high chances to get 110-200 Donuts without buying them, so I think the comparable cheap Buddah is the only chance to get these items without blowing 10-40$ up the butts from EA for astronomical overpriced ingame currency.

Otherwise I would say every Premium item that comes with a building AND a new character is the better choice (Frinks Lab, Duff brewery and the volcano lair). The Building gives money + enables more Jobs/Missions, the person makes jobs/earn money + enables new Missions. So you could say you get 2 premium items instead of one.

      October 28, 2012

I had enough for 3 Buddhas so after reading pretty good reviews I spent all my donuts. I got 2 apple trees and a mystery box with a piece of cheap fence inside. I should have just kept saving for something good :-/ oh well.

      • Tine
        October 30, 2012

“Buddah is the best item you can buy, as you get a premium item guarantee.”
Well, not always… I can confirm Sally’s experience: Buddah contained the premium item “Mystery Box”, and that contained some very un-premium cheap piece of cr… Donuts wasted. You just gotta love EA.

        • Grace
          November 08, 2012

I got 1 buddha Homer, and I had saved the donuts for it, but I got a bench which costs 6 donuts. Thats more than twice as much! I want a refund! And I keep losing donuts when the information about the houses pops up when I try to collect my money. Fix it, and then you can have a five star review.

Best Premium item to buy?….. I’m thinking the teen is the best bang for your buck….besides that mole man but he cost twice as much for same income tax increase …

    Also add me 🙂

    • Phil
      April 12, 2012

The Teen and Moleman will only get the increase on their own tasks not for everybody else. That means, what others get $75 and 20XP for in a 60min task Moleman and the Teen get 150% more for the same task.
