First Church of Springfield

This First Church of Springfield is a holy place, often for people to pray and gather for religious Springfield citizens. You probably know this, or probably would have guess but the quest is initiated by none other than Ned Flanders. This means that you need to have completed all of Ned Flanders quests and and ensure that your task book is clear of anything he might want to do. Once you have completed all of Ned’s quest be sure to level yourself to level 14 then you should be able to purchase the First Church of Springfield building. If you want to know the quest you must complete for Ned Flanders to obtain the First Church of Springfield, it is Passion of the Flanders Pt. 1.

Once you have purchased the First Church of Springfield you will get Reverend Lovejoy, the priest of the church. You will be able to do a number of new tasks with Reverend Lovejoy in your Springfield town and earn much more income taxes. The First Church of Springfield also gives 200 cash and 20 experience points every 12 hours.

I’m level 16, stuck doing Cletus’ jobs over and over. Haven’t been able to get the orange house. Got Bart/other kid to study all night long for pointless test… I have bumble bee man, squeaky voiced teen, and Otto with his bus. No progression in a while. :(

Same here, level 16, Cletus repeating (currently on 4th batch of moonshine another 24hrs), Skinner was as well for 3-4 days but seems to have broken free – took forever to get willy and I am still constructing the control building for powerplant… It has taken me over a week to get no where! I understand that most string of quests would have taken 2-3 days, but you run 2-4 simultaneously and make slow progress. Unless my quests involve constructing a new building they are on repeat (Currently Willy and Cletus)

I built the church and completed the first task of lovejoy giving a sermon and homer and ned attending church, yet the task won’t clear from my taskbook! It says 1/1 as in, it’s completed, but it won’t go away and now it’s blocking any new tasks that may come up. I’ve tried logging out of origin, I’ve tried placing the church in the inventory, I’ve even uninstalled. Yet, the task still sticks! Not to mention, the heckhouse task is doing the same, and I’ve bought that as well. Help?

Once I had Bart and Martin finish their studying for the pointless test quest, and Apu finished his required 24 hour shift quest, Ned’s thought bubble opened and I was given the opportunity to build the church.

    The church costs $32,500

Running out of time! I need the church for my Heck House. I’m stuck waiting for Flanders to find some passion and a drunk for Moe’s Tavern. I’m level 16 built the orange house and the Android’s Dungeon and I’m only getting quests for Cletus.

For me it says ‘Build a java Server’ in the task book, which I built and it now says ’1/1′ but it stills appears in my task book. I tried putting it into inventory and placing it back down but it won’t clear from my task book. I also sent CBg there and it still won’t go away. Can anyone help me out with this? I’m trying to build Moe’s Tavern so I can get marge and continue in the Halloween quests to make marge sleep in the bad dream house (I’m at level 21). Can someone please help out here? It would be appreciated… thanks.

Why can't you see what quest's you have completed? This maybe helpful to know what you are waiting for.

I’m now in Level 16 and the Church is already built, but Lovejoy doesnt appear. I already managed the tasks of Flanders second part. Should I remove the church and build it new?

Have you tried putting it in storage and putting it back in your Springfield? Putting stuff in storage (most notable the Brown House) and back in the game seems to fix a lot of the bugs in this game. I am not sure it’ll work here though but I hope it does.

I’m also stuck waiting for the church. I’m currently level 18 and am stuck in a loop of taxes/restaurants/shops/crops (and repeat and repeat and repeat) and have been for a few levels now. The only active quest is whatever the current one in the loop is, and I’ve got 3 “ghost” quests in the taskbook – two which do nothing when you tap on them and Apu’s 12 Hour Shift (which shows 1/1 and has been done 5 or 6 times at least). I’ll try storing and replacing the Kwik-E-Mart when all characters are available as suggested. Hopefully it works – to help speed along the repeating cycle I’ve built 4 Kwik-E-Marts since I had reams of cash and nothing to do with it (they go nicely with the 6 Krusty Burgers). Fingers crossed that works otherwise I’m ready to stop playing the game (at least until an update comes along).

In my case, it’s Cletus who has a “ghost” quest. He was blocking a few quests from Lisa, Krosty and Ned for the church. You can try to store away your Kwik-E-Mart. Then, you put it in your town against. Apu will complete his “ghost” quest that way. Be sure everyone is free before doing this so someone will have a quest. His “ghost” will reappear when log in next time.

So it is apu causing my problems. He’s got stuck I think the last thing he did was a 12hr shift. Now I have two blanks tasks from him. If he’s stuck and hasn’t asked for electricity I guess that’s why I haven’t got access to the cooling towers.

    I hate apu

I am now level 16 and the quests for both the first church of springfield and the java server have not come up. Why is this?

    • Phil
      March 17, 2012

Scott, unfortunately in this game just because you’re at a certain level does not mean you will get a task to build whatever has become available in said level.

The game follows a strict programmed order which means it can sometimes take up to two levels (depending on how much you play) until you get a new major task (aside from the alibi tasks like planting tomacco or collect money from stores). This in turn means you need to be really patient and make sure you complete all the residents’ tasks as they come up. You will get the church eventually :)

Scott, I have the same problem and have spoken to EA about this. They say they are working on a solution and hope to have this game fixed sooner than later.

Finish your other quests first (building the orange house) and some other side quests and then you’ll get to build the church.

Don’t waste money on a second Krusty Burger or a second Kwik-E-Mart. They are a waste of money. Buildings here on out cost a LOT! Save up!

Update: I’m currently on Level 18. I *FINALLY* got to build the church! It was just a matter of being patient with completing the tasks as they came along. It’s about time! Thanks to all those who have responded with tips, advice and information regarding this issue!

i past the first church of springfield before i did the mission because i leveled up and now it wont even let me get the church

    • Max
      March 19, 2012

It’s not a matter of it “not even letting me get the church”. It’s a matter of you having not yet completed the quests that come before it.

Have you build the Orange House yet? You need to build it first… then complete a few side quests before you can start the quests to build the church.

Just because you reach a certain level doesn’t mean you get to unlock those buildings first. You need to finish quests in order. Which makes sense. Why should you get to build say the Powerplant before you start the quest from Apu needing electricity?

    • Tina
      October 29, 2012

Lisa is the character who asks to build the orange house so her tasks must be clear too.
